The route

1. Vondelpark
   💡 The park welcomes around 10 million visits a year — more than any Dutch museum.
2. Museumplein & Rijksmuseum passage
   💡 The bike passage predates the museum's galleries in the design — Cuypers planned it as a city gate.
3. Magere Brug (Skinny Bridge)
   💡 Its 1,200 lights make it the most photographed bridge in the city after dark.
4. De Waag, Nieuwmarkt
   💡 Rembrandt's "The Anatomy Lesson of Dr Nicolaes Tulp" (1632) was painted in the Theatrum Anatomicum upstairs.
5. NEMO & Oosterdok waterfront
   💡 NEMO's sloping roof is a public square — free to climb, with a summer terrace and water cascade.
6. Centraal Station & the IJ ferries
   💡 The GVB ferries are free, run 24/7 on the Buiksloterweg line, and carry some 60,000 crossings a day.
7. Westerpark & the Gashouder
   💡 The round Gashouder was once the largest gas holder in Europe.
8. Lindengracht & the hidden hofjes
   💡 The Jordaan hides more than a dozen hofjes; the Karthuizerhof (1650) is the largest.
